Protocols and Profiles
BluetoothLow Energy, Wi-Fi, and HCI protocols and profiles are displayed in an easy-to-understand, high-levelprocedures-oriented chronological format intheir respective Overview window and fully detailed to the lowest bit/bytelevel in the linked Details view. All traffic is displayed in designatedOverviews real-time, as capture progresses.
The useris provided a rich set of controls to easily customize any Overview, includingpowerful filtering and coloring capabilities designed to quickly isolatespecific protocols, profiles, or communications of interest. Traffic can bepresented at the highest level of abstraction and the user can drill down toshow all intermediate levels, down to the most basic elements, such aspacket-only views.

Wi-Fi Analysis [Enterprise]
TheTracker includes an integrated Wi-Fi capture capability that allows forprecision synchronization with all other wired and wireless traffic captured bythe analyzer (Bluetooth Low Energy, logic signals, HCI). Wi-Fi traffic ispresented in a dedicated Overview window and presented chronologically in aflexible and very configurable high-level procedures-oriented format. Wi-Fi packets are shown in the Instant Timing and Instant Spectrum windows toprovide accurate and comprehensive understandings of Wi-Fi sequences, timings,as well as coexistence characterizations. A convenient Wi-Fi Securityview allows for entry of passkeys. Various exports allow for display ofWi-Fi protocols in popular third-party formats.

Spectrum Analysis [Enterprise]
The 2.4GHz ISM band used by Bluetooth Low Energy is quite busy. Other users of thisband include Wi-Fi, LTE, ZigBee, ANT and a broad range of other proprietary andcommercial technologies. These users interfere with each other and it is oftennecessary to have a betterunderstanding of the wireless environment.
TheInstant Spectrum display is the perfect tool for coexistence debugging,wireless characterization, or simply for visualizing the RF environment. Itcaptures and synchronously displays all wireless packets, including the RFsignatures and signal strength (RSSI) of all emitters, including Bluetooth LowEnergy and Wi-Fi transmissions, and all other RF in the Bluetooth spectrum. Aconfigurable precision of up to 1 microsecond is provided.

Instant Channels [Standard]
Root-causingtransmission and reception issues are critical to understanding the reliabilityof Bluetooth Low Energy communications. The spectrum in which BluetoothLow Energy operates is quite busy with many other RF emitters, including Wi-Fi,telephonic communications equipment, and even microwave ovens. TheInstant Channels view is very useful in determining which channels are beingavoided by any given link, characterizing transmission errors andretransmissions on a per-channel basis, and understanding the progression ofthese characteristics over time.

Instant Piconet [Standard]
Once acapture is initiated, the user is provided with a dynamic and intuitivedepiction of Bluetooth topologies as they evolve. The Instant Piconetpane displays a graphical representation of devices, piconets, and meshnetwork, along with connection and topology characteristics, throughput, andRSSI indications. On saved traces, the user can step through topologychanges to visualize these events.

Instant Timing [Standard]
Timingissues are a primary concern to wireless developers. Low-level timingerrors can cause serious application issues and can be near impossible toisolate without proper tools like the Tracker and its Instant Timingfeature. The Instant Timing pane provides a unique and intuitive way toprecisely understand various timing characteristics of and between BluetoothLow Energy and Wi-Fi traffic, HCI packets, external logic signals, throughputcharacteristics, error and retransmission graphics, and connection events.
BluetoothLow Energy and Wi-Fi packets are presented chronologically left to right andare uniquely color-coded per the packet’s sender.
TheInstant Timing pane provides various approaches for timingcharacterizations. Tools are provided for slot timings, two types oftiming cursors, zoom and pan features, detailed packet flyovers, color-codeassignments to devices, and a multitude of other powerful characterization andnavigation features.

Logic Analysis [Pro]
The logicanalysis feature enables capture up to 16 logic signals, in synchronizationwith any other captured wireless and wired traffic. Any digital signal issupported, including general-purpose I/Os (GPIOs) or dedicated pins such asTX/RX Active. Another of the many applications for this feature is keepingtrack of a device’s power consumption in various states, by using dedicatedhardware such as comparators for determining whether key thresholds areexceeded.
These signals can then be visualized with5-nanosecond precision andcompared with the other captured streams in the powerful Instant Timing view ofthe Ellisys software.

HCI Analysis [Pro]
Wirelesstraffic is of course one of the most useful elements of debugging informationfor Bluetooth Low Energy engineers, but Host Controller Interface (HCI) trafficis an equally important complement of information for getting a clear andcomplete picture of the situation.
HCI is anelectrical interface defined by the Bluetooth Low Energy specification forcommunications between the host controller and the radio. The Tracker supportssynchronized capture of UART HCI and SPI HCI. All HCI traffic is capturedconcurrently with the wireless traffic using the same precision clock forperfect synchronization and timing analysis, and is displayed in thehighly-optimized Ellisys analysis software.
HCIcapture is also a very convenient feature when working with devices thatimplement BLE Secure Connections. The Ellisys analysis software automatically extracts any Link Keyexchanged over HCI and usesit to decrypt the wireless traffic, all without any user interaction.
